Red Gum
We use two types of red gum, one is called Forest Red Gum or eucalyptus tereticornis and the other is called River Red Gum or eucalyptus camaldulensis. As the names suggest, one grows in the hills and forests and the other grows close to major rivers. Both look almost the same as far as the timber is concerned however Forest Red Gum is quite a lot heavier than River Red Gum. Many people who have grown up in the country are guilty of taking the stunning beauty of red gum timber for granted. Many people from overseas who have been into our showroom over the years make the assumption that red gum has been stained to get that amazing depth of red.
